“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thank you for your continued prayerful support of the E3 Schools Project in Ballymena! In this email you’ll find out some  information about some upcoming events and initiatives coming up for pupils in our schools, as well as Prayer Points.

In particular, please join us in praying this month as applications for Ballymena’s E3 Worker opens – pray that God would lead the panel (made up of local volunteers and SUNI Staff) to the right person.

Week of Prayer for our Young People

24-30 May 2021

No-one is totally sure of long term implications of Covid-19, but we know that everyone has been impacted.

In considering young people throughout this pandemic, they have had to face a multitude of challenges that have potentially affected their family, education, relationships and well-being. As a way to respond to this situation, SUNI is joining with a number of other youth ministry organisations and church denominations to pray for our young people.

You are invited to join us in a week of prayer where there will be a virtual prayer room and prayer wall open Monday – Friday, organised daily online prayer gatherings, and on the Sunday a moment in many church services to pray for our young people.

Further information will be released in the coming weeks. Please keep an eye on our website and socials for more details.

It’s Your Move

Our ‘It’s Your Move’ lessons, designed to help Primary 7 pupils as they navigate the changes, choices and challenges coming their way as they move to Post-Primary school, are back!

If you would be interested in these lessons, either as online videos, or delivered by a visiting speaker, please contact Rachel Sheppard, our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, on rachel@suni.co.uk

Prayer Points

School Safety – pray that schools would be a place of safety for staff and pupils and that the return to school would not mean a spike in cases of COVID-19.

Mental Health – pray for pupils who are struggling with the return to ‘normal’ school conditions. Pray that schools would be a place of peace and pray that staff members would notice children and young people who are feeling anxious. Similarly, pray for staff members who are finding this academic year overwhelming.

SU Groups –  Give thanks for pupil leaders in our local post-primary school SU groups. It has been amazing to see how these young people have kept their SU groups running throughout the year, both in-person and online.

Pupils Facing Isolation – Please pray for our school pupils and staff as they continue to face disruption caused by COVID-19. Pray that pupils having to isolate from family and friends due to positive and close contact cases would feel God’s presence near to them. Pray also for teachers as they balance teaching pupils in school & pupils isolating at home. Assessments – Pray for teachers who are facing the demanding task of collating results for GCSE & A-Level grades. Pray also that young people would have the confidence that, despite exams not going ahead, they will receive a grade that reflects their ability. SUNI Resources – Pray for the SUNI Schools’ team as we continue to create online resources for primary, post-primary and SEN schools. Pray for continued creativity and opportunities. Pray that as restrictions ease we might be able to visit some schools for face to face assemblies and RE lessons in the summer months.
